OUR FOUNDER….
SAM COLLINS
I’ve spent more than a decade delivering green infrastructure solutions for commercial and residential projects. This experience has shaped a clear understanding of why early involvement, accurate & detailed specifications, working with reputable providers with the necessary know how, and open communication with every stakeholder involved, is essential to achieving successful outcomes.
From vertical gardens and façade planters to interior greenery, balcony planter systems, and traditional landscape works, I focus on making sure each project has the right products, services, species selection, and state of the art irrigation technology to ensure its long term success.
I am deeply passionate about the green infrastructure industry, ensuring sustainable design, educating clients and creating solutions that remain resilient, functional, and sustainable into the future. This is what shapes GIAA’s consultancy and approach to every project we touch.

OUR PROCESS

Making a project look good on day one is easy, ensuring it only gets better in the years to come (like this stunning Fytogreen green wall in Brisbane pictured here) requires deep knowledge, experience, understanding of the environmental conditions and meticulous planning.
Having witnessed more failed green infrastructure projects being delivered than most over the past decade, GIAA was established recognising a real need for expert guidance to ensure clients get it right each and every time. This is the reason why GIAA - Green Infrastructure Audit & Advisory was established.
We specialise in mitigating risk through client education, advising on product-project fit, preparing detailed specifications, and ensuring that every green infrastructure asset meets, and exceeds client expectations well into the future.
GIAA considers every factor, from product selection, irrigation systems, water efficiency, and drainage, species selection, light, wind, soil quality and FER compliance where necessary, so that long term success is built into every project we touch.
Our services cover the full project lifecycle: from initial feasibility assessments through to specification and design integration. Our service delivers cost planning for both CapEx and ongoing OpEx, via professional ongoing maintenance contractors - with the necessary skills and now how.
GIAA chooses only to work with the best green infrastructure providers in Australia, ensuring our clients, builders, and future asset owners have a clear roadmap as to how their green infrastructure assets will be installed, and most importantly, professionally maintained post install. This ensures your project will remain healthy, vibrant, and sustainable well into the future.

Andrew Turnbull RLA - Director Mirage International
‘In my capacity as Design Manager in 2018, the team and I were tasked with successfully delivering the D&C of what was to become the largest ever vertical garden project completed in Queensland.
With over 380 m² of internal and external vertical gardens, Sam and the team at Vertikal were instrumental in guiding us through the complex task of delivering a project such as this. Prior to being awarded the tender, we worked with Sam for a period of around 18 months in order to ensure the success of the project, both from an installation and ongoing maintenance point of view. Numerous other factors such as the correct lighting of the internal vertical gardens, plant selection, water management, drainage, irrigation and the fertigation of over 13,400 plants were all critical areas in which Sam was able to guide us, so that we could successfully deliver on the project.
Today the numerous thriving vertical gardens at the Breakfast Creek Lifestyle Precinct stand as a testament to collaboration, and what early contractor engagement can do in order to ensure a successful project both at the time of installation, and well into the future.’
